Days away from its premiere on the DC Universe streaming service, review aggregate site Rotten Tomatoes has posted its initial critics’ score for Doom Patrol.
Based on early reviews, the series holds an impressive 92 percent on the review aggregate site. While this score is likely fluctuate as more reviews are posted following Doom Patrol‘s wide release on the premium streaming service, that puts it as the highest-rated DC Universe original series to date.
For comparison, Titans, the inaugural DCU original series and the live-action show from which Doom Patrol spun off, holds a critics’ score of 82 percent (for the entire first season). Young Justice: Outsiders, the eagerly anticipated third series of the fan-favorite animated series, holds a critics’ score of 91 percent.
CBR‘s own review of the premiere episode calls Doom Patrol “wonderfully bizarre and self-aware, exactly what you’d hope for comic book characters once billed as ‘the World’s Strangest Heroes.'”
Premiering Friday on DC Universe, Doom Patrol stars Brendan Fraser as Cliff Steele, Matt Bomer as Larry Trainor, Diana Guerrero as Crazy Jane, Alan Tudyk as Mr. Nobody, April Bowlby as Rita Farr, Jovian Wade as Vic Stone and Timothy Dalton as Niles Caulder.
