Game of Thrones Scorches Super Bowl With Bud Light Ad

Continuing its medieval-themed “Dilly Dilly” campaign into Super Bowl LIII, Bud Light suddenly delivered a big surprise Sunday with a Game of Thrones crossover.

What begins simply enough with a tournament presided over by the Bud Light-drinking king turns into something much more as Gregor Clegane, better known as the Mountain, takes to the field, and does what he does best. That’s unfortunate for his joust opponent, whose blue Bud Light armor isn’t enough to protect him.

However, the onlookers have little time to process the horror they just witnessed, as a dragon soars in and sets fire to the tournament stands.  Yeah, Bud Light gets really, really dark.

It’s, of course, a cross-promotion for the eighth and final season of HBO’s Game of Thrones, which premieres April 14. There are just six remaining episodes, although two of those are reportedly 80 minutes in length; most episodes of the hit fantasy drama are less than an hour.
