Even though The LEGO Movie 2: The Second Part won’t be out for a few more weeks, the film’s early reviews look pretty awesome so far.
On the review-aggregating site Rotten Tomatoes, the film currently has an impressive 92% rating, which means that the vast majority of professional reviews for the film are positive.
Since it’s still early in the film’s release cycle, that precise number will most likely change as additional critics and outlets publish their respective reviews for the film.
As it stands, The LEGO Movie 2 isn’t quite as acclaimed as 2014’s The LEGO Movie, which sits at an outstanding 95%. It’s still slightly better than 2017’s The LEGO Batman Movie, which earned a strong 90%, and considerably better than 2017’s The Lego Ninjago Movie, which sits at a lukewarm 56%.
Directed by Mike Mitchell, the film sees Chris Pratt’s Emmet, Elizabeth Banks’ Lucy and Will Arnett’s Batman, the heroes of The LEGO Movie, fend off an invasion of DUPLO’s led by Tiffany Haddish’s Queen Watevra Wa’nabi.
In theaters Feb. 8, The LEGO Movie 2: The Second Part stars Chris Pratt, Elizabeth Banks, Nick Offerman, Will Arnett, Alison Brie, Charlie Day, Tiffany Haddish, Maya Rudolph and Stephanie Beatriz.
