The Magic Order Contest Winner Drawn Into Miniseries Finale

Ahead of the release of the sixth and final issue of The Magic Order, by writer Mark Millar and artist Olivier Coipel, Netflix has revealed a new member of the Order: reader Caleb LaBord.

The winner of a special sweepstakes, LaBord was “forever immortalized” by Coipel in the miniseries’ finale, which goes on sale Wednesday. Netflix released a sneak peek at LaBord’s cameo, which you can view below.

The first comic released following the streaming giant’s 2017 acquisition of Millar’s Millarworld imprint, The Magic Order is a fantasy crime series that centers on five families of magicians sworn to secretly protect the world from the forces of darkness. Although they’ve done so for generations, but they’re suddenly confronted by an enemy that picks them off one by one. Millar described the premise as more akin to The Sopranos than The Lord of the Rings.

While this week’s sixth issue is the miniseries finale, Millar confirmed last month that a second volume is already in the works.

Netflix is adapting two Millarworld comics, Jupiter’s Legacy and American Jesus, as television series, and three others, Empress, Huck and Sharkey the Bounty Hunter, as films. That’s only for starters, however.

The Magic Order #6, by Mark Millar and Olivier Coipel, goes on sale Wednesday from Image Comics.
