David Ayer Reveals New Katana Scene From His ‘Suicide Squad’ Cut

Suicide Squad director David Ayer revealed a new scene involving Karen Fukuhara’s Katana in his original cut of the supervillain movie.

After the triumphant news about the Snyder Cut, DC fans have quickly changed their focus to David Ayer’s Suicide Squad. The film originally went through several cuts and the theatrical version gave fans a poorly executed narrative which felt far too rushed to service the titular team. One character that felt a little underserved was Karen Fukuhara’s Katana. But according to the Suicide Squad director, a new scene in his original cut saw her go up against the rest of the team.

When a fan on Twitter asked the director about a brief moment in one of the trailers for the film showing Fukuhara’s Katana with completely black eyes, Ayer revealed an interesting fight that would force the Squad to change their tactics. The hero would’ve been possessed by one of Enchantress‘s tendrils, pitting her against the rest of her teammates. Take a look at Ayer’s tweet below.

Would you like to see Katana go up against the rest of the team? Do you think David Ayer’s Suicide Squad cut should be released? Sound off in the comments below!

Here is the synopsis for Suicide Squad:

It feels good to be bad… Assemble a team of the world’s most dangerous, incarcerated Super Villains, provide them with the most powerful arsenal at the government’s disposal, and send them off on a mission to defeat an enigmatic, insuperable entity. U.S. intelligence officer Amanda Waller has determined only a secretly convened group of disparate, despicable individuals with next to nothing to lose will do. However, once they realize they weren’t picked to succeed but chosen for their patent culpability when they inevitably fail, will the Suicide Squad resolve to die trying, or decide it’s every man for himself?

Written and directed by David Ayer, Suicide Squad stars Will Smith, Jared Leto, Margot Robbie, Joel Kinnaman, Viola Davis, Jai Courtney, Cara Delevingne, Jay Hernandez, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, Ike Barinholtz, and Scott Eastwood.
