Frank Grillo recently looked back on all the rigorous training he had to do with Chris Evans for Captain America: The Winter Solider.
Anthony and Joe Russo’s first Marvel Cinematic Universe movie, Captain America: The Winter Soldier, is highly regarded for several reasons. One major highlight in The Winter Soldier are the action sequences, which set the standard for today’s superhero movies. Captain America: The Winter Solider also introduced characters like Frank Grillo’s Crossbones, who would eventually die in Civil War, but return in Avengers: Endgame.
For The Winter Solider, Frank Grillo had to go through a ton of training with Chris Evans to make sequences like the now iconic elevator fight possible. While speaking with Uproxx, Grillo reflected on how hard the training for The Winter Soldier was:
“Oh my goodness, always. I still train every day with a boxing trainer and do strength training, but when you’re making a movie where you have a lot of things going on and have a lot of choreography to remember, you do it over and over and over. Your mind gets worn down as well as your body, and you’re exhausted all the time.”
