Jim Carrey Was Concerned With The ‘Sonic The Hedgehog’ Design At First Too

While promoting Sonic the Hedgehog, Jim Carrey admitted that he was concerned with the initial design at first too and is pleased with the changes.

Sonic the Hedgehog is looking like a huge success for Paramount after having the biggest opening of all-time for a video game movie with $57 million. Prior to the release of Sonic the Hedgehog, it was well-documented that the film made changes to Sonic’s design after the backlash from fans.

Now that Sonic the Hedgehog is in theaters after facing a delay, it looks like the changes made were worth it. In an interview with Fox News, Jim Carrey talked a bit about the changes made to Sonic the Hedgehog and how well the process went:

“I think it turned out to be a great thing. It turned out to be a co-op where everybody was in on the creation. I think everybody felt good about it ultimately because [director] Jeff Fowler [had] no ego involved at all. He just went, ‘These people grew up with it, and it’s important to them that we get it right.”

Jim Carrey went on the reveal that the original Sonic design for the film was a concern for him as well:

“And I think it was just a much better movie because of it. Based on what people are saying. It was my concern, as well. It turned out fantastic.”

Have you had a chance to see Sonic the Hedgehog yet? Do you think the redesign was worth it? What did you think of Jim Carrey’s Dr. Robotnik? Fell free to share your thoughts in the comments below!
