‘Suicide Squad’ Director Shares New Look At Deleted Scene With Jared Leto’s Joker

Suicide Squad director David Ayer has shared a new look at a deleted scene that features Jared Leto’s Joker.

Much of the footage shot from 2016’s Suicide Squad was left on the cutting room floor much to the chagrin of fans and Jared Leto himself. Leto was displeased when he realized that his Joker was seen only sporadically in Suicide Squad, which served as the debut of his take on the character. Luckily for Leto, director David Ayer has shared a brand new look at a deleted scene that features the actor’s gangster take on Joker.

Taking to Twitter, Ayer shared a black and white image of Jared Leto’s Joker in a tuxedo. This image is presumably from the third act of the film, which sees Leto’s Joker rocking the same tuxedo seen when he’s trying to save Harley Quinn.

Details on this image are extremely vague, especially when you take into consideration Ayer’s caption of “Dream.” The director did, however, shared explicit details regarding the scene between Jared Leto’s Joker and Common’s Monster T, which proved to be anticlimactic for many. When asked by a fan if there was more to the club scene featuring Monster T, Joker, and Harley Quinn, Ayer confirmed that the scene was originally longer and had a different outcome.

Fans have been rallying for David Ayer’s cut of the film  to be released now that Zack Snyder’s cut of Justice League is official coming to HBO Max. Warner Bros. notoriously meddled in Ayer’s vision for the film and had a trailer house create a cut of the project that would compete with his. Even Jared Leto was displeased with the studio, as he stated that he had tons of interesting footage that was shelved. While we may never get “The Ayer Cut”, it’s still great that the director is keeping us privy to take his original take on the film.
