Warner Bros Has No Plans To Release Schumacher Cut Of ‘Batman Forever’

Warner Bros has no plans to release the extended cut of ‘Batman Forever’.

Warner Bros reportedly has no plans to release Joel Schumacher’s extended version of the 1995 film, Batman Forever.

Last month, Joel Schumacher sadly passed away at the age of 80 after a yearlong battle with cancer. The director had a long career in the film industry that started all the way back in the 1970s but is perhaps best known for his work on Batman Forever and Batman and Robin. Not long after the director died it was revealed that an extended, darker, 170-minute long version of Batman Forever existed. This caused a resurge of interest in this extended cut and many have been wondering if Warner Bros would be willing to release it.

The original version of Batman Forever was reportedly a much darker film. It included Two-Face escaping Arkham Asylum, Batman literally fighting a bat and dove far deeper into his psychological issues. The cut was apparently too dark for Warner Bros, who had the film trimmed down and take on a more family-friendly tone. Unfortunately, the theatrical version will probably be the only one fans see for a while.

According to a report from Variety, Warner Bros has no plans to release the extended cut of Joel Schumacher’s Batman Forever. In addition, Warner Bros’ representatives are not even aware if such a cut has survived the past 25 years. Considering, however, that only a year ago, the Zack Snyder cut of Justice League was only a pipe dream, anything could happen.

What do you all make of this report? Would you like to see Joel Schumacher’s extended cut of Batman Forever? Do you think a copy of this version of the film has even survived? Let us know what you think in the comments below!
