BREAKING: Kevin Feige is Now Marvel’s Chief Creative Officer

Between the films of the MCU, Marvel’s upcoming Disney+ series, and his looming entry into the Star Wars universe, Kevin Feige clearly has a lot on his plate. But now, it sounds like his list of responsibilities is about to get even longer. Deadline brings word that Feige has just been named Marvel’s Chief Creative Officer, which puts him in charge of even more of the company’s creative endeavors.

This new deal is expected to be finalized by the end of the week. Under its terms, Feige will oversee Marvel projects spanning virtually every medium, including film, TV (both live-action and animation), and publishing. Deadline notes that Marvel Television and Marvel Family Entertainment will officially be under his control. Feige will still report to Disney Co-Chairman and Chief Creative Officer Alan Horn and Co-Chairman Alan Bergman.

Meanwhile, Dan Buckley will continue as the President of Marvel Entertainment, with Ike Perlmutter staying on as Chairman. Buckley will report to Feige on the publishing creative and editorial ventures that he oversees. However, he must also report to Perlmutter on matters relating to publishing operations, sales, creative services, games, licensing and events. Joe Quesada, who has been Marvel’s CCO since 2010, will now serve as a “creative lead” who reports to Buckley.

Surprisingly, Jeph Loeb’s name is absent from Deadline’s report. It’s not clear if Loeb will retain his position as the head of Marvel Television. But if he stays on and has a more direct working relationship with Feige, the two could finally establish some solid connectivity between MCU films and TV shows.
