DC’s Batman: The Adventures Continue Season II is Coming In May
This December will mark 10 years since Scott Snyder and Greg Capullo launched their critically-acclaimed Batman run by introducing the Court of Owls into the DC Universe. Now, Gotham’s subterranean secret society is getting re-imagined in the style of Batman: The Animated Series. DC has announced a follow-up to last year’s Batman: The Adventures Continue. The new series, billed as Season II, is coming this summer.
Scripted by former TAS writers Alan Burnett and Paul Dini, Batman: The Adventures Continue picked up where the animated series left off in the mid-’90s. The comic also featured Bruce Timm-inspired illustrations courtesy of artist Ty Templeton. Season II begins with the mysterious assassination of Gotham’s Mayor Hill. Eventually, Batman’s search for the killer leads him beneath the city’s streets, where he discovers the existence of the Court of Owls. Fortunately, the Dark Knight will receive some help along the way from an unlikely source: Boston Brand, a.k.a. Deadman.
Burnett, Dini, and Templeton are all returning for the new series, as is colorist Monica Kubina. The previous season was originally released as a digital-first title before DC began releasing print issues, and it looks like a similar model will also be followed for Season II. Digital chapters will be released biweekly starting May 6. Additionally, a print edition of the first issue will hit comic stores on June 1.
