Gal Gadot Confirms Joss Whedon Threatened Her Career

Over the last year, Ray Fisher has been leading the charge against Warner Bros. and Joss Whedon over claims of “abusive” behavior while filming Justice League’s reshoots in 2017. But while most of the ongoing drama centered on Fisher, the Cyborg actor isn’t the only one who clashed with Whedon after he replaced Zack Snyder in the director’s chair. Gal Gadot previously hinted at her own bad experience on the DC team-up film’s set. Now, she’s backing up earlier claims about what happened.

Shortly before Wonder Woman 1984 premiered last December, Gadot told the L.A. Times that she had similarly unpleasant experiences with Whedon, which she addressed through the proper channels. She also revealed that she was interviewed for the investigation spurred on by Fisher’s allegations. And in a recent sit-down with Israeli news station N12 (via The Wrap), Gadot claimed that Whedon tried to intimidate her by taking aim at her acting career.

“I had my issues with Joss and I handled it,” said Gadot. “He threatened my career and said that if I do something he will make sure my career is miserable and I took care of it on the spot.”

Gadot’s remarks line up with claims made in an exposé published by The Hollywood Reporter last month. According to sources, Gadot expressed concern with how Whedon handled her character in his re-worked version of Justice League. She specifically felt that Diana was “more aggressive” than she appeared in Wonder Woman, which also hit theaters in 2017. The report also indicates that Whedon “disparaged” Wonder Woman director Patty Jenkins. But when Gadot approached Whedon about this, he got “dismissive” and “pushed Gadot to record lines she didn’t like.” Jenkins and Gadot ultimately handled the situation in a meeting with then-Warner Bros. chairman Kevin Tsujihara.

Not surprisingly, Fisher already posted his own response to Gadot’s statement on Twitter, which you can read below.
