Superhero Hype’s Best Amazon Deals For August 15, 2019

We’re diving into all things DC this week in our regular roundup of Amazon’s best offerings. Well, most things DC. Specifically the denizens of Gotham. A number of quality books about Batman and his extended crew are ready for readers at a nice discount. Pack that alongside two distinctly different modern tales of fantasy and you have a stellar lineup of trades for all. Here’s Superhero Hype’s best Amazon deals for August 15, 2019.

The Margot Robbie-led, Harley Quinn-focused Birds of Prey film is deep into its production. But hopefully the focus on Quinn won’t deter from one of comics’ best squads of female crime fighters. DC’s Rebirth event brought Batgirl, Huntress, and Black Canary back together for a new book worthy of the moniker. And the first six issues of the series are collected here at a 30% discount.

Boom! Studios continues to produce quality works, both original series and licensed adaptations. A number of the publisher’s books are on sale at the moment, but Coda deserves a special highlight. Simon Spurrier’s post-apocalyptic tale showcases the imagination of its weird wasteland while boldly decreeing “high fantasy is dead.” It’s a story of reclamation that doesn’t disappoint. Fans can also pick up the first four issues of the book on Kindle for 60% off.

Back to Batman. Specifically, well, Batman. The character debuted in Detective Comics #27 in 1939 and the Dark Knight’s popularity kept the book running for decades. All the way up to its 1000th issue, becoming the second comic to reach such a number. Issue 1000 brings a bevy of heavy hitters together, celebrating the Bat with stories from the likes of Bendis, Dini, Ellis and Johns. It’s 170+ pages of revelry that is currently slashed by nearly one-fourth list price.

The popular Netflix ’80s homage is on break currently, but there’s very little doubt that it will come back for a fourth season. Despite the streaming giant’s pesky trend of cancelling shows after three seasons. But there are plenty of side stories to satiate us while we wait. Dark Horse’s Stranger Things comics flesh out Hawkins in interesting ways, beginning with The Other Side. Work through a chronicle of Will’s time in the Upside Down during season one at a near-50% discount.

Kate Kane’s television series is roughly a month away. Many battles on the streets of Gotham lie ahead for the live-action Batwoman, but the source material, is ready for all. Kicking off with her Rebirth story, Batwoman volume 1 collects the first six issues at a 56% discount.
